Our new exciting venture in 2021 was to add an Extended School Programme (ESP) to the end of the school day. We cater to our Grade 1 to Grade 7 children, ensuring their after-school needs are met in every way possible.

Our aim is to provide our learners with a superior, after-school experience. Learners are able to complete their homework under the supervision of qualified teachers as well as be involved in sport and culture to keep them moving and motivated each day of the week. Each Friday afternoon each child is offered a variety of cultural activities.

As is in the average school day, the Extended School Programme is run in time slots with Foundation Phase learners ending the day earlier than the Intermediate and Senior Phase learners. Should a Foundation Phase child have a brother or sister in the Intermediate or Senior Phase that attends ESP, they are welcome to stay on for an additional hour and wait for their siblings.

BASIC DAILY PROGRAMME:

FOUNDATION PHASE

13:30 School Ends, roll call, children change, eat their snacks, and play. (Parents to ensure that suitable play clothing is packed, as well as a snack)

14:00 Homework period

15:00 Sports activity (Friday: Cultural activity)

16:00 Collection

INTERMEDIATE AND SENIOR PHASE

(Intermediate and Senior Phase learners finish at the same time as Foundation Phase learners on Fridays)

14:35 School Ends, roll call, children change, eat their snacks, and play.  (Parents ensure that suitable play clothing is packed, as well as a snack)

15:00 Homework period

16:00 Sport period (Friday: Cultural activity)

17:00 Collection

Our day is structured, and parents are requested to only collect their children at the end of their ESP day, failing which, at the switch over from homework time to sport time. This avoids unnecessary interruption of classes and distraction for both the teachers as well as our learners. In this way, we are very different from an average aftercare facility.

We have an incredible team who run this programme, inclusive of all members of the Milnerton Primary School teaching staff and the external coaching team. They are qualified, dedicated and equipped to offer your child the very best, taking the homework stress off of the parents at home.
