Music
At Milnerton Primary School, our Music Department is dedicated to nurturing the holistic development of young children through the transformative power of music education. We believe that music is not only a fundamental part of cultural enrichment but also plays a pivotal role in fostering creativity, emotional expression, and cognitive growth.
Our mission is to provide a vibrant and inclusive musical environment where every child can discover, explore, and develop their musical talents to their fullest potential. Through comprehensive music education programs and innovative teaching methods in a supportive and collaborative setting, we aim to instill a lifelong love and appreciation for music in our students.

Music in the Foundation Phase:
Performing Arts as part of the Life Skills curriculum focuses on creative games and skills, as well as improvising and interpreting, allowing learners to develop their creativity, enhance their problem-solving abilities, build confidence, and improve their social and emotional skills through collaborative and expressive activities. Foundation Phase learners receive one Performance Arts lesson per week and are exposed to the recorder and various percussion instruments. Learners are encouraged to participate in and create their own rhythms, songs, movement sequences and drama performances.
